The art of Rio

I recently bought a book called The art of Rio. It is so good! I am thoroughly enjoying reading it especially the little bits about the theory behind what they did in the character design. I found it really interesting about how the eye is supposed to be the first thing the audience sees so they connect with the character as that is where all the emotion comes from. With birds, the beak is usually quite large and the first thing we see. So to combat this, they make the eyes larger and all the lines from the beak point to the eye. That is just so clever and not something I had really thought of before!!! I just want to learn more things like this-its so interesting!! I think reading things like this will also improve my own character design skills which i hope to work on next year.
